1. Cook (almost) every meal

Eating are some things we all need to do. Food is of the utmost importance to our health and wellness.

Cooking, baking, or the act of creating something to satisfy our most elementary need requires mindfulness and patience – two skills i feel we will all work on. Not only that, but more times than not, cooking your meals is additionally way healthier than eating out. And once I say making something, I don’t mean throwing popcorn within the microwave — that’s mindless and not as patience-testing. It are often making something as simple as rice and beans to something as complex as coq au vin.

Sometimes, we cannot cook our meals because we are in situations where that isn’t feasible or due to a disability or illness. I’m also aware that life be life-ing sometimes and you can't be bothered to form dinner. It’s okay just to order pizza or eat some Cap’n Crunch. If this happens, I suggest to still be intentional about eating by creating a soothing atmosphere to enjoy that. Since I’m working home, i'm very adamant about no working lunches. So when it’s lunchtime on behalf of me , I block off that point in my calendar, close up my phone and eat my porch. for instance , if it’s pizza night for the family, confirm most are round the dining table with no distractions. All of this will facilitate community with people, mindfulness, gratitude, reduce anxiety and feeling energized all with one step.

2. stick with a routine

Now, tell me, what percentage blogs, life coaches, therapists, and Instagram accounts are telling you to form a daily routine and you're still ignoring it. Don’t worry, there's no shame coming from this side of the web , but let this be your last sign!

I don’t know what it's about routines and why they create us feel good, but they do!

A routine is simply a bunch of belongings you do habitually. Most folks have some sort of morning routine – awaken , use the toilet , shower, brush teeth, eat breakfast, attend work. For me, routines calmed my anxiety and depression.

My routine is pretty simple; I awaken , do the standard morning hygiene things, do some blog stuff, attend work (I’m still performing from home), eat lunch, tend to my plants, work some more, eat lunch, work out, cook dinner, aromatherapy, fun stuff, read/study clinical skills, nighttime hygiene routine, then bed.

It gives me a reason to urge out of bed and confirm I’m taking adequate care of myself. Plus, it gives me something to schedule my day around. I attempt to keep my routine filled with healthy habits, because, duh.

3. Plan

Plan, plan, plan! i really like planning. There’s a reason if you check in for my email list you get a free weekly planner (super shameless plug). this is often a small offshoot of number three. Planning keeps me super organized. this is often especially good for my anxiety because i do know what’s coming within the future so I can plan for it if i want to.

I tend to plan occasionally I even have something that ‘interrupts’ my daily routine in order that I can plan my routine around it like doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, vacations, etc. This way, when Depression or anxiety acts up, planning keeps me accountable to the commitments I made to myself et al. . I also set my goals, successes, and opportunities for growth in my planner. Intentional planning, manifestation, or whatever else you call it brings more positivity in life.

Also, planning, as within the act of writing stuff down, is super cathartic. i exploit an excellent cute bound planner. i might use a daily notebook, and you'll too. But, I wouldn’t take it seriously or use it properly if I associated it with unspecified notebook for college . I’m sure you’ve heard of Erin Condren planners and other people love them. 4. Declutter Your Space

I wholeheartedly believe that mess in your space creates a multitude in your mind. you recognize that feeling you get once you clean your room, light a candle and dwell bed — that an equivalent feeling I attempt to replicate all of the time.

Marie Kondo had some extent when she said “If it doesn’t spark joy, get obviate it”. Our society tends to over-consume for fast gratification. we've such a lot stuff just to possess stuff. Decluttering allows us to discern what sparks joy — giving a way of appreciation and gratitude for the items we'd like and reduces the fiddle us, which provides space to relax (and clean an entire lot less).

5. Communicate Effectively

Communication are often both our greatest friend or worst enemy. once we have great communication skills relationships become easier to affect , we become more confident, and that we trust ourselves to be honest with ourselves (number 6).

I knew someone aware that their communication skills weren't where they wanted it to be. once they were around people with ‘better’ communication skills, they felt like they were inadequate and not deserving to be heard. Fortunately, with a touch practice and motivation, they were ready to elevate their communication skills and increased their confidence over time.

Becoming an efficient communicator is both an art and a science — knowing the way to frame an idea , reading the context, separating your emotions from fact are just a few ways to become a simpler communicator (but this is often all cultural — effective communication during a conservative European context could also be different from a more progressive Caribbean context). In any context, effective communication is comparatively easy to find out if you trust yourself to form mistakes and grow from them.

6. Be honest with Yourself

Arguably one among the more important things on the list. We don’t adore to concentrate to ourselves. But that’s so stupid. once we are sick, we attend the doctor because they're an expert on illness. you'd definitely feel assured if that doctor was an expert in your sickness with 20, 30, 40 plus years of experience.

Being honest with yourself is pretty simple. Start asking yourself questions with everything you are doing –‘why am I doing this?’, ‘does this make me happy?’, ‘does this serve my goals and dreams?’. Be intentional with questioning yourself and rediscover a replacement life.
