8 Benefits Of Mindfulness That Will Improve Your Life

Have you ever drove somewhere and realized you don’t remember the drive? Or eaten something and it’s gone before you’ve really tasted it? have you ever ever blown abreast of someone and wondered where it came from? We tend to rush through life, living within the past or worrying about the longer term , rather than living within the moment and enjoying life.

I think that life is about the here and now. If we linger over the past, we are missing out on what might be today. If we spend all of our time worrying about or planning the longer term , we actually never get there. the longer term we would like for ourselves will never happen unless we are taking steps towards it immediately , today.

This is where mindfulness comes in. I’ve talked a touch bit about mindfulness in a number of my other posts, like this one on gratitude. But, I wanted to place mindfulness within the spotlight for once, because it can bring such a lot goodness to your life.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?

But first, what's mindfulness? consistent with Merriam-Webster, mindfulness is “the quality or state of being mindful” or “the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis”.

Mindfulness is bringing your attention to what you're experiencing immediately without judgment. It’s listening to your thoughts and feelings. It’s being conscious of what's happening in and around you.

For me, mindfulness lives within the moment. I find that living within the moment is that the most vital thing we will be doing at any given time. After all, if you’re not living within the moment, you’re missing the instant .

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MINDFULNESS

I started practicing mindfulness without knowing what it had been . I had decided I wanted to measure a far better life. For starters, I wanted to enjoy every moment and that i wanted to be more present with my kids and husband. and that i NEEDED to abandoning of the past and stop worrying about my future…for my psychological state . For me, it started with simple things like putting away my phone more and truly watching my kids and listening better once they were lecture me.

When I noticed myself feeling bitter or resentful of things within the past, I chose to shift my thoughts toward all the items I even have to be thankful for immediately . once I began to worry about the longer term and lose confidence, I switched my thoughts to what I can do immediately to form my future better.

Sometimes that meant I needed to find out the way to do something, like promote my blog on social media. (So unnatural for me!) Or sometimes I needed to succeed in bent someone and take the primary step to form amends.

I know that if i would like tomorrow to be better, i want to try to to something about it today.

Once I learned what mindfulness was, I started using mindfulness practices for my psychological state in other ways also . I struggle with depression and anxiety sometimes . Mindfulness has helped put my mind comfortable during these times.

In fact, mindfulness has sometimes stopped an attack close to happen. i might feel the anxiety approaching , so i might turn my focus to this . i might concentrate to what i used to be seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and even tasting.

Being mindful of what was happening within the moment allowed me to ascertain the instant for what it really was and snap out of anxious thoughts that might cause me to spiral out of control.

Regularly practicing mindfulness has made it easier on behalf of me to focus. Now, when I’m talking with a lover , I find it easier to not become distracted by my phone or other people/things within the room.

4. IT HELPS YOU RUMINATE AND STRESS LESS.

If you’re in the least like me, you'll do tons of living in your head. I relive past experiences and that i believe all of the possible scenarios during which my life could unfold. rather than preparing myself for the longer term (like I tell myself I am), i'm really just getting more and more stressed.

Life happens.

There will be moments that suck and that we will wish to urge out of them as soon as possible. But, mindfulness helps us recover . It helps us stay on top of things of our reaction, so we recover more quickly when bad things happen.

7. IT LEADS TO SELF-ACCEPTANCE AND COMPASSION FOR OTHERS.

When you get to understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors better, you learn to simply accept yourself. You acknowledge your thoughts and feelings without judging them. You learn to know why you think that and feel and act the way your do.

This helps us feel more connected to ourselves et al. . once we understand how we work, it helps us understand where others are coming from and why they'll react the way they are doing .
